MD Devices Linux

Posted by dual101 on February 2, 2015

There seemed to be an issue with /u00 not mounting, when the machine rebooted. I’m not sure when this md file system appeared, so don’t know who put it in etc?

Mount it manually…

It doesn’t persist across boots though, and I’m not sure why.

So the workaround appears to be to re-create the md devices:

mdadm -A /dev/md1 /dev/sdk /dev/sdl /dev/sdn /dev/sdo

mdadm: /dev/md1 has been started with 4 drives

Add the entry to the mdadm.conf

ARRAY /dev/md1 level=raid10 num-devices=4 metadata=0.90 UUID=c273bf5f:f69c4798:7d2a8207:97c3fe7d

– which should give two entries now:

[root@gc12c-oms ~]#  mdadm –detail –scan

ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=2 metadata=0.90 UUID=7bf9690c:24cb2a0a:38830cf6:e481911b

ARRAY /dev/md1 level=raid10 num-devices=4 metadata=0.90 UUID=c273bf5f:f69c4798:7d2a8207:97c3fe7d

Get the UUID thus:

mdadm -E /dev/sdl | grep UUID

And all should be well…

Installed Agent Not Appearing In OMS

Posted by dual101 on May 6, 2014

Installed the agent in the usual way, comms validated from OMS to host etc. All fine.

Agent started, but no communication was being made to OMS despite upload attempts.

In the gcagent.log:

Tried all methods of removing the target –

No values in “select target_name,target_type from MGMT_TARGETS_DELETE where DELETE_COMPLETE_TIME is null;”

a) The solution of Note.1586918.1 does not work here.

emcli delete_target cannot remove the target when it is not in mgmt_targets table.

b) We have seen that target is visible in these tables still:

We cannot support to remove repository objects manually.

It wasn’t appearing in emcli get_targets so could do none of the normal remove target methods so

SYS@oem> select target_name from sysman.EM_targets where lower(TARGET_NAME) like 'drnew%';

drnewdwlive:15767 <<<<< delete from sysman.EM_targets where TARGET_NAME = 'drnewdwlive:15767';

1 row deleted.

SYS@oem> commit;

Commit complete.

Anyway, the DELETE worked (this time):

Agent up and running and communicating as expected.

Auditing in 12c

Posted by dual101 on March 29, 2014

We were working on a 12c Multi-tenant database today and noticed some regular (and by regular I mean regular as clockwork) spikes in load on the server.
